Winter Nutrition for Deer

Now is the time to go the extra mile and do whatever it takes to maximize next years deer. If the snow is deep, take a shovel and clear some small squares in your food plots. Supplemental feeding can be done in close proximity to your food plots and mix some scientifically tested minerals with feed. 2-3 lbs of minerals per 50 lbs. of feed will be sufficient. The does are pregnant and the bucks are stressed from heavy rutting activity.
Management is a 24-7-365 process, the more you do the more you get out of it. Clover, Alfalfa, Chicory, and Trefoil plots are showing some serious wear from deer digging in the snow which shows that they are lacking mother natures green protein. The future is in our hands now to provide the best environment possible for huntings future. Plant this spring and they will grow.
